Description

Coffee & Eucalyptus Cold Process Soap Making Ingredients Set

Create Your Own Exfoliating Coffee Soap from Scratch

The Coffee & Eucalyptus Cold Process Soap Making Ingredients Set is designed for handmade soap makers who want to create a distinctive coffee-inspired soap using traditional cold process techniques.

The formula combines a balanced vegetable oil blend with finely ground coffee, cocoa powder, activated charcoal and eucalyptus essential oil.

Ground coffee provides a noticeable physical exfoliating texture, while cocoa and activated charcoal add natural-looking color and visual depth. Eucalyptus essential oil gives the finished soap a fresh and aromatic profile.

The included oil and sodium hydroxide quantities have been prepared for the intended cold process formulation, making the set a convenient option for users who already understand basic lye safety.

What’s Included?

920 g Pre-Blended Soap-Making Oils

The vegetable oil blend contains:

  • Olive oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Castor oil

Each oil contributes different properties to the finished soap.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is widely used in traditional soap making and contributes to:

  • A mild cleansing profile
  • Creamy lather
  • Smooth skin feel
  • A classic handmade soap character

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contributes to:

  • Bar hardness
  • Cleansing performance
  • Lather formation
  • Durability during use

Castor Oil

Castor oil is commonly used in small amounts to support:

  • Foam stability
  • Creamier lather
  • Improved bubble structure

Together, these oils create a versatile base for handmade cold process soap.

131 g Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)

Sodium hydroxide is the alkali required for the saponification reaction that converts the vegetable oils into soap.

The supplied amount is calculated for the included oil blend and should not be changed unless the complete formulation is recalculated.

5 g Sodium Lactate

Sodium lactate is commonly used in cold process soap to support:

  • Faster initial hardening
  • Easier unmolding
  • Improved bar firmness
  • Better durability

It does not replace the curing period.

20 ml Eucalyptus Essential Oil

The set includes 100% eucalyptus essential oil, which provides a fresh, clean and aromatic fragrance profile.

Eucalyptus oil is commonly used in personal care products for its characteristic refreshing scent.

Essential oils should always be used within appropriate cosmetic usage levels.

5 g Ground Filter Coffee

Ground coffee adds a natural brown tone and physical exfoliating texture to the finished soap.

It can help create soaps designed around:

  • Exfoliating concepts
  • Coffee-inspired designs
  • Rustic artisan soaps
  • Body cleansing bars

Because ground coffee can be abrasive, the intensity of exfoliation depends on particle size and quantity used.

5 g Cocoa Powder

Cocoa powder contributes:

  • Natural brown coloration
  • Warm visual tone
  • Coffee-and-cocoa themed appearance
  • Artisan soap aesthetics

Its main role in this set is decorative and formulation-based rather than therapeutic.

5 g Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal provides dark gray to black coloration and adsorbent properties.

It is widely used in soaps designed around:

  • Deep-cleansing concepts
  • Dark-colored artisan soaps
  • Oily-skin positioning
  • Modern botanical formulations

Soap Mixing Whisk

A mixing whisk is included to help distribute powdered ingredients and additives more evenly during preparation.

What Can You Make With This Set?

Exfoliating Coffee Soap

Ground coffee provides a noticeable textured surface that can create a mechanical exfoliating effect during use.

This type of soap is generally more suitable for body cleansing than delicate facial skin.

Coffee & Cocoa Soap

Combine ground coffee and cocoa powder for a rich brown, natural-looking handmade soap.

Coffee & Charcoal Soap

Activated charcoal can be combined with coffee to create a darker soap with a modern, rustic appearance.

Eucalyptus Coffee Soap

Eucalyptus essential oil adds a fresh aromatic contrast to the warm coffee and cocoa theme.

Layered and Swirled Soap Designs

You can separate portions of the soap batter and use different additives to create:

  • Coffee layers
  • Charcoal swirls
  • Cocoa-colored sections
  • Two-tone bars
  • Rustic textured tops

Benefits of Ground Coffee in Soap

Ground coffee is primarily used as a physical exfoliant in handmade soap.

It can help remove loose surface skin cells mechanically during washing and creates a distinctive tactile experience.

The exfoliating strength depends on:

  • Grind size
  • Quantity used
  • Placement in the soap
  • Frequency of use

For gentler exfoliation, use finely ground coffee and avoid excessive amounts.

Important Note for Sensitive Skin

Coffee grounds provide physical exfoliation and may feel too abrasive on sensitive, irritated or damaged skin.

For this reason:

  • Avoid using coarse coffee grounds on the face
  • Use finely ground coffee for gentler bars
  • Discontinue use if irritation occurs
  • Avoid applying exfoliating soap to broken or inflamed skin

The finished product should be evaluated according to its intended use.

Role of Cocoa Powder

Cocoa powder can provide a naturally inspired brown tone and help reinforce the coffee-themed design.

In handmade soap it is mainly used for:

  • Color
  • Visual depth
  • Rustic appearance
  • Decorative formulation concepts

Natural powders may change color during saponification or curing, so final results can vary.

Role of Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal has a highly porous structure and is known for adsorption properties.

In soap, it can contribute:

  • Dark coloration
  • Modern cosmetic appearance
  • Cleansing-focused positioning
  • Visual contrast

The finished soap should not be presented as removing “toxins” from the body unless supported by appropriate scientific and regulatory evidence.

Role of Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Eucalyptus essential oil provides a fresh and distinctive aromatic profile.

It is particularly suitable for:

  • Fresh soap concepts
  • Botanical-style products
  • Coffee-and-herb combinations
  • Modern artisan soap designs

Essential oil quantity should always be appropriate for the complete formulation.

Cold Process Soap Making

This ingredient set is intended for cold process soap making.

Cold process soap production involves reacting vegetable oils with a sodium hydroxide solution.

Because sodium hydroxide is corrosive, proper safety procedures are essential.

How to Use

1. Prepare Your Workspace

Before starting:

  • Wear chemical-resistant gloves
  • Wear protective goggles
  • Work in a well-ventilated area
  • Keep children and pets away
  • Use alkali-resistant containers and tools
  • Prepare all materials before beginning

2. Prepare the Oil Blend

Place the supplied vegetable oil blend into a suitable container.

Warm gently if needed until all oils are completely liquid and uniform.

Avoid unnecessary overheating.

3. Prepare the Lye Solution

Use the exact water quantity specified in the validated recipe supplied with the set.

Slowly add the sodium hydroxide to the water while stirring carefully.

Always add sodium hydroxide to water. Never pour water directly onto sodium hydroxide.

The solution will heat rapidly because the process is exothermic.

Allow it to cool safely in a well-ventilated area.

4. Add Sodium Lactate

If specified by the recipe, add sodium lactate to the cooled lye solution and mix carefully.

5. Combine Oils and Lye Solution

When both phases are within the appropriate temperature range specified in your recipe, carefully combine the lye solution with the oils.

6. Blend to Trace

Use a stick blender in short pulses, alternating with manual stirring.

Continue until the mixture reaches a stable emulsion and begins to thicken.

7. Add Coffee, Cocoa and Activated Charcoal

Add the powdered ingredients gradually.

Mix carefully to achieve even distribution.

You may add all powders to the full batch or divide the soap batter into portions for layered or swirled designs.

8. Add Eucalyptus Essential Oil

Add the eucalyptus essential oil according to the appropriate usage level and mix gently.

9. Pour Into the Mold

Transfer the soap batter into a suitable mold.

Tap gently if necessary to help remove trapped air.

10. Allow to Harden

Leave the soap until it becomes firm enough to unmold.

This generally takes approximately 24–48 hours, although the exact time depends on formulation and temperature.

11. Cure the Soap

After unmolding and cutting if necessary, allow the bars to cure in a dry and well-ventilated area.

A typical curing period is approximately 4–6 weeks.

Why Is Curing Important?

Curing allows excess water to evaporate and helps the finished bar become:

  • Harder
  • More durable
  • Longer lasting
  • More stable in use

The final lather and overall soap performance can also improve during curing.
